AWCPA is committed to serving a diverse group of students and families. In addition to enrolling students in grades 6-12, AWCPA is a Title 1 school and offers two center-based classrooms to support students' needs: our Life Skills and Affective Needs classrooms.

We follow a community schools model approach to education - we believe that supporting the strengths and needs of our community is essential to educational success. Learn more about what it means to be a community school HERE.

AWCPA encourages students to be leaders around the school and represent the values of Spartan PRIDE, the goals and values we seek for every student:

  • Perseverance - Putting forth your best effort, even during challenging times, and always looking to improve.

  • Respect - Understanding the value of self and others at all times.

  • Integrity - Doing the right thing for yourself and others, with compassion, honesty, and empathy.

  • Develop - To grow and advance in your knowledge of the world and your own maturity.

  • Engage - To participate and be a part of your community. To make an effort to being a productive member of the school community.

Our middle school (grades 6-8) follows a traditional public school model.  Students from our attendance boundary area make up our middle school, while students from outside of our attendance can use our open enrollment to choose to attend AWCPA.  Our middle school accounts for about 60% of our school’s population.

The AWCPA high school is an open-enrollment school of choice. Our mission and vision are centered around the idea that all students will be college- and career-ready when they graduate from AWCPA. We offer intentional paths to graduation that focus on preparing our students for college or a career.

Partnering with the Community College of Aurora and Pickens Technical College allows students to earn college credit or receive important career skills before graduation.  Students at AWCPA have the ability to earn an Associate's Degree when they graduate high school or enroll in the ASCENT program to receive free college classes post graduation.

AWCPA's high school is intentionally small, with about 400 students. This allows staff to build intentional relationships with students, support them throughout their high school career, and help them become college- and career-ready.
